Good news, I have acquired new backdrops for your professional portrait needs. These backdrops are fold up are portable and are quick to set up and most important utilize very minimal space. I am able to come to your location whether it be at your home or in your office and take great studio portraits. The backdrops are limited to one person and can only be shot as a 3/4 photo or head shot, however they can also be used as flooring for newborn portraits.
Below is a quick example of the backdrops that you can choose from when booking your appointment. The colors may change slightly due to lighting and post processing, but this will give you an idea of what to wear to compliment the backdrop
Solid Colors Available
In addition to the nice textured backdrops I have solid colors as well. The standard Black, White, and Grey can be shot on as well. The Grey backdrop is the best one to use if you plan on removing the backdrop for any post use or changing the background in the image. Very soon I will start providing new and exciting digital backdrops as options during your portrait session, so stay tuned for that announcement. Once this happens the sky is the limit.
One fun and exciting thing that I can do is add a splash of color to the black or grey backdrop by using color gels. Below are the current available solid colors, however if need be we can be creative and add multiple colors to the backdrop. These colors can be used to highlight the color of your High School or Business.
I look forward to photographing you and I look forward to creating fun and exciting portraits to help you in your business needs or personal needs.

Higgins Hills Farm 2019 Valentines Event
On February 9th I was invited by Derek Higgins at Higgins Hills Farm to set up my “Kissing Booth” mini sessions for individuals who attended the event to have the opportunity to get great photographs with the ponies on the farm.
Higgins Hills Farm provided games, hot coco, and pony rides and MFA Studios, Girl Scouts, and others provided cookies and baked goods for the visitors. It was a chilly day but it was a great day, everyone that attended had a great time. Check out some of the photographs I took of the event below
I had three different size booths set up for my clients to choose from, to ensure that they had the best set up. A majority of them utilized the medium size booth that was the perfect size for the ponies. The ponies did a really good job of going into the booth and posing with the kids. The kids enjoyed having the ponies in the photographs with them.
Successful Mini Sessions on the Farm
Thank you to all that attended the event. I hope to see everyone out at future events that I will be hosting or that Higgins Hills Farm will be hosting. Check out my facebook page to keep up with the most recent events.

Free Portrait Session for Class of 2020 High School Seniors!! Become an ambassador for BC Photography.
During the fall is a great time to take portraits here in Virginia. The colors are spectacular and add for a great canvas for you to place your subject on. I had the opportunity to photograph the first half of Jaydi’s Senior Portrait session during the peak color of the fall season a few weeks ago.
Jaydi did a great job in picking a variety of different outfits (seen below) that complimented the session. We discussed prior to the session what time of setting or backdrop we wanted during the session. We chose downtown Fredericksburg, VA as our canvas. This gave us a wide range of textures and colors to work with to include the fall foliage.
The first example below shows that solid colors help focus our attention on the subject. We are not distracted by any patterns or shapes. Choosing the right outfit may be difficult, so if you have trouble deciding discuss it with your photographer prior to the session and they can help you decide on what to wear.
It is important to also dress for the weather. If it is 90 degrees outside you don’t want to be dressed in a heavy coat or if it is 30 degrees you do not want to be in a tank top and shorts. The reasoning is that your client will not be comfortable and it will show in the portraits and it just ma not make since in the final photo. Jaydi choose a combination style to show that it was cool enough out for long sleeves but just warm enough to be wearing a skirt. In the next outfit she accessorized it with nice scarf to add a different look to the image. So when choosing multiple outfits for your session make sure that you have a variety of different colors and looks to add to your portfolio.
In Jaydi’s final outfit she truly captured “Fall” wearing a nice long sleeve solid grey shirt and added a splash of burgundy with the vest, it gave me the feeling that she was enjoying nice cool fall day. The colors worked great with the urban backdrop and the Fall colors we had.
Bottom line is when you are preparing for your upcoming session pick an outfit that represents you and show off who you are. Try to avoid bold patterns and bright distracting colors as much as possible, however if that is your personality then show it off.
Always communicate with your photographer prior to the session to figure out the following:
1) When is the portraits going to be taken
2) Where are the portraits going to be taken
3) What should you where (take pictures of your outfits and share them)
An open line of communication and prior planning will give you phenomenal results for your final portraits.
While taking Meredith’s High School Senior Portraits at Highland School in Warrenton, VA I decided to set up a studio. I set up a grey backdrop with two kicker lights and one main light. This gave me the opportunity to photograph her on a clean neutral backdrop.
Being able to set up studio at any location
The goal with the plain grey backdrop is to capture an image and remove the background so it will look nicely in a collage with other images. To showcase Meredith’s sports that she played while in High School I wanted to provide her with a collage of those sports. So I took a series of photographs (see below) on the grey background to capture these sports.
I took several different poses to include the above and others not displayed to have a variety to choose from for the collage. It is important to have different angles, and crops to choose from to add a variety to the final collage.
After I finished the session I uploaded the files and started designing the collage. I chose the best ones that would work and began putting it together. Below is the final image a came up with. This is a great way to showcase your High School Seniors activities even if it is just one sport.
One of the many benefits of living in Lake of the Woods is the wonderful opportunities I have as a photographer to photograph great local events. As an event photographer this gives me a chance to practice and also help market myself and let my community know that I am here to help them with their photographic needs.
On October 14th the local Equestrian Center held the end of the year horse show. I arrived early to try and capture the young riders preparing for the event ahead. The weather was perfect and so were the shooting conditions, with a nice cool temperature and a nice overcast.
As the event photographer my goal was to capture each individual rider performing at there best. When photographing an event I try to capture multiple angles, expressions, individuals, interactions, and whatever else I need to photograph to help tell the story of the day.
I shot over 400 images from the days event from 8 in the morning till about 3 in the afternoon. This event was a great time and I plan on photographing more of these in the future.
If you would like to see all the images from the event please contact me or go to my facebook page to get the information.
I had the opportunity to volunteer my time this past weekend to photograph the 2nd annual Fauquier Excellence in Education Foundation 5k Color Run and Kids Fun Run. It was a beautiful day with perfect weather for the event. I wanted to share some of my favorites shots from the event.
The First photographs are from the Kids Fun Run. These kids had a blast running around the track.
The Color Run portion of the event had a lot of runners for me to photograph. As the lone photographer I tried to capture as many as I could during the run. Here are my favorites from the Color Run.
I look forward to next year’s race. I hope to see you there. For more information on the race check out the Fauquier Excellence in Education Foundation on Facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/FauquierExcellenceinEducation/
Being a second shooter for a wedding is great opportunity for me to get out there and start taking and practicing my photography skills for weddings. I had the opportunity to photograph a wedding along with Dan Reams of www.danreamsphotography.com It was great working with Dan and we both combined our different styles to come out with some great images.
One of my main jobs as a second photographer is to photograph the details of the wedding, this gives time for the main photographer (Dan) to coordinate things with the Bride and Groom and focus his attention on them and take some photographs with them.
The other job I did was help in photographing the ceremony to capture different angles and different things going on to allow for more coverage of the weeding.
In assisting Dan during the wedding I also helped with getting individuals posed for him to photograph or I took photographs myself. For example to speed things up due to the limited time in-between ceremony and reception I photographed the Groomsmen and Bridesmaid so he could photograph the Bride and Groom.
Finally the best part about being a second photographer is that it gave me an opportunity to be more creative and try different things. With having Dan there as the primary photographer this allowed me the chances of making mistakes and try new things.
I am grateful to have been a second shooter for Dan. I look forward to doing again and would love the opportunity to work with other photographers as well.
It was my pleasure to photograph Maverick the other day. This little guy was a trooper throughout the 3 hour session. His family owns a farm so it was important to capture these important details in the photographs to help highlight this. Here are the images created right inside their living room using there fireplace as a backdrop.
Picking the right outfit for the right location does wonders for family portraits
We had a beautiful weekend during my first Back 2 School mini portrait sessions. The park in Lake of the Woods, VA was the perfect backdrop for my little school desk set up. It was great getting to photograph these young children whom were enjoying there summer and might be ready to start school.
Enjoy the favorites from this year and I hope to see even more of you next year!!
I had the opportunity to photograph Nessa the other day. She was a great model for the photo shoot, she was very easy to photograph and get her to smile. We captured the moment by adding the number 1 and the word one to the photographs to help identify that she was now one. Happy Birthday Nessa!!
Newborn Portrait Session with Hannah
As a parent it is very important to make sure that you capture the beauty and innocence of your newborn child. It was my pleasure to be able to capture these images of Hannah. Although she was a little fussy at times and made it a little challenging I was able to capture these wonderful images.
